CHINON

CHINON

Overlooking the town of Chinon and the Vienne river, the medieval forteress still stands today.
You will quickly understand its strategic position to defend the town and the surrounding area, as for the Plantagenets, the Counts of Anjou or during the hundred year war, date when Charles VII received the visit of Joan of Arc
Despite the quality of the remains today, the General Council of Indre et Loire decided to return the castle to it's original aspect as could be seen in the Middle ages, which means rehabilitating the east wing, one of the most important of the fortress since it is the main entrance of the site and thus the most defended section of the castle
In addition to being a medieval fortress, you will also discover an incredible and interesting project of the XXIth century.
